The government has long recognized the vital role of cottage industries in the countryside development of the Philippines

Aurora Province, with its vast natural resources where raw materials are available has bright potential in cottage industry development.

Available materials in the province includes sabutan, coconut by-products, nipa, bamboo, wood, rattan, shell, sand, puroy and gravel for concrete products and fruits for good processing.

Most of the cottage industries operating in Aurora is on job order basis which means that production is dependent on the order of the customer.

In support to the project, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), is extending various financial assistance to cottage and small and medium industries. Aside from this, the department is also helping the small entrepreneurs find the right market for their products. Producers, particularly in furniture and handicraft industry prefer to sell their products outside the province for better prices.
