Aurora e-Village

Providing Greater Access to Rural Families of Aurora Province: Connecting Villages Amidst Mountains thru Information and Communications Technology


The Aurora e-Village is a collaboration among the Department of Agriculture (DA)-Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), DA-Philippine Rice Research Institute and the Development Academy of the Philippines with the farmers and rural folks of the Provincial Government of Aurora as primary beneficiaries. The Department of Agriculture serves as the executing agency and project manager of the e-Village project. Institutional project partners include the Local Government Units of Aurora, Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT).

The project endeavors to overcome the barriers imposed by nature, and the insufficiencies of traditional means of information and communications infrastructure by making available modern ICTwares including commodity-specific-production-system, providing training and technical assistance, and facilitating linkages to existing research and training institutions.

Project Objectives

  1. Creation of a transaction-based, self-sustaining agricultural information system;
  2. Provision of a collective strategy in the adoption, dissemination, and commercialization of technology-based, market-driven production system ;
  3. Build the capacities of project implementers and the target beneficiaries in accessing, retrieving and utilizing information primarily relevant to farm operations and management; and
  4. Generate participation and support of the community to the project.

The project will serve three (3) levels of clients/beneficiaries.  These are as follows:

  • Farmers (priority will be given to rice farmers), fisher folk and agriculture-based peoples’ organizations and cooperatives;
  • Private sector which include rice traders, agricultural traders and agri-business entrepreneurs;
  • Project clients who will also be the local project implementers from the Provincial Government of Aurora particularly the Provincial Agriculturist Office, Provincial Planning and Development Office, Provincial Cooperative Office and the office in charge of the Rice Processing Complex; and
  • Municipal Governments of Aurora including the identified barangay units that will be selected as access points.
