It is at this juncture
that Governor Ramoncita P. Ong established the Livelihood Development
Program to put direction and emphasis toward the promotion of the
productive potential and active participation of larger recipient
groups (i.e. those who are economically disadvantaged) in the
development efforts of the Provincial Government of Aurora. Thus, the
acceleration of the economic condition together with rural development
of the province and attainment of equal opportunities to all.
To ensure transparency
and promote consultative team-building in the Livelihood Program, a
Technical Working Group was created which is composed of the Technical
Staff on Livelihood Program, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist,
Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic
Resources Office, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office,
Provincial Cooperative Office, Provincial Nutrition Council and the
Provincial Tourism Office.
The main function of
this group is to recommend specific policies in the utilization of
fund; formulate program guidelines; and analyze, evaluate and validate
as to the feasibility and viability of the project proposed prior to
the approval of the Governor.
To
put flesh in this program, Governor Ramoncita P. Ong personally visited
barangays from different municipalities and conducted orrientation on
Livelihood Program and trainings on Mushroom Cultured Production and
Food Always in the Home (FAITH Garden) wherein vegetable seeds and
mushroom spawns are distibuted to the participants. These activities
serve as an effective venue for people’s consultation on her
administration’s development programs.
As
a result, for the period of January – April 2002, 23 different
projects are approved amounting to P 212,891.00
in which 39 families benefit from these projects.
